CPD23 - Wales Meet Up anyone??

I've noticed that Wales doesn't seem to have anybody arranging a meet up for cpd23. If anybody's interested I'm willing to arrange a meeting either in Aberystwyth or Swansea (as I know those fairly well). If those aren't convenient would somebody else like to arrange it for someplace else? Any ideas, comments for suitable dates etc would be gratefully received as I've not tried arranging something like this before.

Dwi wedi sylwi bod neb wedi trefnu unrhyw gyfarfod i ni'r Cymry er mwyn cpd23. Dwi'n barod i drefnu rhywbeth naill ai yn Aberystwyth neu Abertawe (gan fy mod yn ei nabod nhw yn weddol o dda) os mae yna ddiddordeb mewn cwrdd lan  'da beth. Os nad yw un o'r rhain yn gyfleus a oes yna rhywun arall fyddai'n barod i drefnu Cyfarfod y Cymry? Fydden i'n ddiolchgar am unrhyw syniadau neu sylwadau am ddyddiad neu lle addas gan fy mod i ddim wedi trfnu unrhywbeth fel hyn o'r blaen.

Hi Nia,

I just posted on the cpd23 blog that I'd be happy to do one in Cardiff if no one else wanted to arrange one, but you beat me to it. I would be happy to come to Swansea if you wanted to do one there, getting to Aber from Cardiff can be a bit of a nightmare.

I would be happy to help arrange something in Cardiff but I don't know Swansea very well. I would attend an event in Swansea.
I don't drive and the train to Aber would take hours.
You can email me - gemmasouthgate@hotmail.com if you need to ask anything.

Hi both,

Aberystwyth is a nightmare to get to from anywhere! Unfortunately!

Swansea or Cardiff sounds good. Should we see which one is the most popular destination first? And then go from there?

Excited to see that a meet up is on the cards, I'm one of Alison Harvey's Cardiff 6. How formal/informal are people thinking? A coffee/cocktail in Milgi's yurt perhaps?

Kristine said... Best Blogger Tips

Ooh I like that idea, can you book the yurt for private parties? Or we could try Gwdihw.

Have contacted Milgis, it is possible to reserve a space in the yurt (for free) though they can't guarantee it would stay private all night. And it would be best if we arrived late afternoon, early in the week. If we let them know a date they can check availability.
What kind of date/time are people thinking? I thought maybe 5pm onwards - however I realise that several people have a distance to travel so this may not be possible. If we are going to meet up later in the evening it may be that we should book a table (at Milgis) and have something to eat perhaps. Unless people would rather go somewhere else?
Any more ideas re time/date/place?

5 o'clock should be fine I have some holidays I need to use up anyhow so I can take a Half Day if needs be. That should give me plenty of time to get to Cardiff and hopefully not get too lost!

Should we say sometime next week to coincide with Week 5 of cpd23?

5 o'clock would be fine with me also. I've just looked on their website and it seems they have life drawing in the yurt on Mondays, and storytelling next Tuesday, so provided those events are still going ahead would a Wednesday be the best choice?

Wednesday (20th) 5pm is fine by me - should I contact them and see if I can reserve the yurt for us?

Fine by me too x

Sounds great, I wont be able to stay for long because I'm going to another bloggers meetup at 7pm - http://yourcardiff.walesonline.co.uk/2011/06/23/cardiff-bloggers-meetup-summer-social/ we could go to that event too? You need to book tickets but it is free x

Yep 20th is fine!

Have emailed Milgi's to see if yurt is free on that date - fingers crossed it is - otherwise I guess we can just take over the sofas at the front if no-one else is there when we arrive.

Only just seen this thread. I can't make the 20th but if anyone is interested in a get together to celebrate finishing cpd23 I'll be there...

Just been directed to this thread as one for a cpd23 meet up for Wales. Sadly can't make it as live in North Wales and journey to Cardiff is awful. Easier to get to Manchester! Maybe another time :)

Yes we can reserve the yurt at Milgis! I'll reserve it between 5-7pm for our use - we can stay on in there longer but we might get other people wandering in after that time.
How many of us are there going to be? (I need to give them rough numbers)and are we going to want to eat (they have various buffet options for the yurt) - we could always just get drinks, and then decide on food in the main bit later? (if that would be easier for people to decide)
Apologies to anyone who can't make this date, but a meet up at the end of cpd23 sounds good too - and maybe further along the way also!
